United States Army Medical Research Institute of Chemical Defense
Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland
Flad Architects
This LEED silver building was created to respond to chemical attacks and train personnel to minimize casualties. Consolidating ten existing facilities into one, this is one of the Army's largest scientific projects, and the only medical laboratory in the Department of Defense equipped to safely study hazardous chemical agents. The state-of-the-art facility supports research, training, and education, and promotes staff collaboration.
I worked on this project as a summer intern for two summers and then again as I became a full time employee at Flad. I was a large part of the visualization team and worked on creating presentation graphics, models, and conceptual designs for both the exterior and interior.
